“I lost my job because of COVID-19 and can’t find another one.”
“I don’t know how to write a CV properly.”
“I’ve applied for jobs, but nobody hires me. I’m not very good with interviews.”
“I’ve been out of work for a while now and am not sure I can find a job.”

Naka Ward Office provides a consultation service to help those struggling to find work by themselves solve their day-to-day troubles. There is no need to suffer alone. Please come along to seek advice and take some weight off your shoulders.

Stages in the job hunting process

Consultee: Mr. A, father in his 50s with a family of 3
“I lost my job because of COVID-19 and can’t find another one.”

Member of staff who fields the initial consultation: Member of staff in charge of consultations (member of staff from the Public Assistance Division)

Helper who accompanies the consultee: Self-reliance consultation assistant (member of staff from the Public Assistance Division)

Recruitment professional: Job Spot navigator (member of staff from Hello Work Yokohama (Public Employment Security Office))

(1) Assistance with job hunting at Naka Ward Office

In Mr. A’s house, half a year after having lost his job...
“Naka Ward Office provides a job hunting service! It’s free, too, so I’ve got nothing to lose! I’ll go along and have a word with someone!”
*You can use this service free of charge. By talking with someone, it may help you open up doors to potential work.

(2) Please start by visiting Naka Ward Office and enquiring at the counter

Mr. A decided to look for a job through the Seikatsu Shien-ka (Public Assistance Division).
*In addition to job hunting, you can consult with self-reliance consultation assistants on a variety of other general matters, including financial hardship, health problems, and issues in daily life.

(3) Create a plan with your self-reliance consultation assistant

Visit the Seikatsu Shien-ka (Public Assistance Division) again at a later date
“Why not search for work at the Job Spot located in the ward office? I and the navigator at the Job Spot will assist you.”
*Your self-reliance consultation assistant will propose a support plan. This plan only contains suggestions, so you can complete it while looking through the content together.

(4) Search for work with a navigator at the Job Spot!

Receive a referral for a consultation at the Job Spot
“This is the job vacancy information we found based on your requests. You can also undergo a mock interview here if you are not confident with interviews!”
*At the Job Spot, the navigator will find job vacancy information according to your circumstances, and will provide any other necessary support.

Examples of the kinds of support provided

Work to promote self-reliance through employment: We help people find jobs using the Job Spot, etc.
Note: The Job Spot is a satellite office of Hello Work located within Naka Ward Office. Only those who have received a referral from the Seikatsu Shien-ka (Public Assistance Division) or Kodomokatei Shien-ka (Children and Families Support Division) are eligible to use this service.
Work to support those preparing to enter work: We provide those who lack confidence in starting work with opportunities to participate in society, etc.
Work to help people improve their household budgeting: We provide proposals which help people visualize their household budgets and strike a balance between income and expenditures.
Work to promote job training: We provide opportunities for people to gain work experience.

- Revise household budget by reviewing income and expenditures
Following a series of consultations, Mr. A came to see a way forward that would suit his circumstances, and we introduced him to fields of work different to his preferred job types. We also helped him gain confidence in interviews through mock interviews. He was interviewed by several companies and landed a wonderful job.

Plan for Ms. B (female in her 40s)
Out of work for a long time, and anxious about working

- Ms. B has been out of work for a while and she is not confident that she can get straight back into the swing of things, so we will train her to prepare for work
- Clarify her debt situation and help her organize her debts
Ms. B undertook job training for 3 days a week, during which she took part in work experience at a company. This enabled her to gradually reclaim a sense of rhythm and confidence in her life. She has agreed to continue receiving consultations to help her organize her debts.
